Homemade Traps
You probably have ingredients to concoct at least one homemade trap. Fruit flies are attracted to certain smells. If you bait them with something sweet, they will be drawn to it. All you need is some apple cider vinegar, sugar, water, and a touch of your “deadly” dish soap. Enticed by the lovely aroma of sugar, the flies will swarm your trap and hopefully be drowned in the soap.
Bleach In The Sink
If you find that fruit flies remain a recurring problem after setting up a trap, bleach may be your next option. Since bleach is a dangerous substance, there are some precautions to take. First, wear a mask before you pour the substance down the drain. Second, dilute the bleach with water. If there is a happy little colony of fruit flies in your drain, that should be enough to kill them.
